The Sleepless Malice

Gazing into a darkened archway, Angul stood in an aura of murky fog, entranced by the emptiness in the void before him. He stood there for hours without budging, without so much as a whisper as the archway slowly engulfed his body. Within this mass of darkness, he felt the vileness and corruption that enveloped the known galaxy. He reveled in this insight as he fed off the sorrow and hatred, letting it flow and course through his entire being. This place had granted him a vision of an extraordinary structure, a unique and desolate labyrinth with inexplicable markings embedded on its surface. He soon saw himself on standing upon a monument of an enigmatic figure, his stature was eerie as if he were still alive, watching in the distance ahead. Angul then gazed into the courtyard below, as he watched across the horizon, he saw a mass of peoples of all species seemingly gathering to his location. The location he was in could not be discerned, yet was set ablaze in an fiery inferno that crippled the sky as well as the surround below. He could do nothing nor could he say anything, he simply observed as they came from all corners of the now burning cityscape. Angul began to hold his head high, as he raised his hands into the air signifying his dominance, as a conqueror.

Suddenly, his vision quickly changed as he saw a light piercing directly through the shroud of darkness that enveloped him. The light laid out a path before his feet, as if guiding him towards it, taunting him. He rose to his feet, his presence emulating the malice within in an outward manifestation of the ominous intent lingering in his heart. The darkness shyed away from the light as Angul proceeded forward on the glistening path. It was like a gleam of pearl and silver, completely flawless in its magnitude as it beamed his way. As he continuously approached the light, the intensity increased almost hindering his movement. An apparition then appeared before him, glowing in her majesty, her presence powerful and constant, her essence attempting to overwhelm Angul. He then glared up at the apparition, the light beginning to quell his dark intentions. The apparition crept closer towards him, until finally she was face to face with his sinister helm. She gently brushed her finger under his chin, effortlessly lifting him off the ground. She held him there, watching as his strength and will were being sapped away by this unusual  phenomena. Angul became weaker and weaker before her, it was as if he had lost the will to move, no more than putty under her fingertip. His eyes became heavy as he slowly began to fade from his subconscious, the light shinning too brightly as it hovered over his body.

A voice echoes in Angul's mind, it becomes louder, and begins to rant in his head as his being is in immediate danger. The voice howls, bellowing to him as if it were in excruciating pain. Angul abruptly opened his eyes and rose to his feet, levitating in the air now towering over the unnaturally powerful apparition. "No! We will not bend to any will other than our own!" He roars to her, his voice in unison with others. He then emits his dark wrath, as it floods from his feet in vast quantity, creating a new dark void which envelops the path behind him. The apparition taken by surprise at this development, begins to emit her own wrath to counter his own, as she seems to increase the light's intensity. Their essence begins wracking together in attempts to overpower the other, as there was no ground the air around them shook violently in their fury. Angul looked on at the apparition, his eyes revealing the corruption that revitalized him from his near-defeat. His power was beginning to take its toll on the apparition as she was forced back, little by little, in exchange for Angul gaining more ground. He was enshrouded in a river of darkness which cloaked his body, as he manipulated the phantom waves to force her back. In one final burst of rage Angul, wraps her essence in his dark pool, watching as she struggles as it swallows her whole. As he watches her slowly disappear, he can't help but feel he knew this woman from somewhere, and in his heart a faint pinch of sorrow gave way as he watched her fall. The feeling quickly subsided however as his dark essence purged the emotion entirely, allowing his remorseless nature to re-emerge. He scoffed at the apparitions hindrance, then continued down the less illuminated path, darkness encroaching with every step.

After an arduous journey, Angul finally saw an end to the light as he emerged in an open grassland scenery. The sky was a beautiful crisp blue, there was lush vegetation, and many non hostile animals before him. As he looked on this scene, he began detecting a low heartbeat, it was small and weakly fading, as if moving away. Angul stilling his mind, called upon the great darkness he brought with him to seethe with this being's life force. He felt sudden rushes of intense impulses and a blurry vision, as if something were brought here, a new sensation for the being. The seething worked as the the vision finally cleared to reveal, a man hooded and cloaked before him. The man had his back facing Angul, yet as he tried to approach, his body would not obey him, he could only watch. The strange man turned to reveal, himself before Angul lowering his hood, revealing a face that shocked him completely. The face was his own, uncorrupted by the dark side of the force, his features exactly the same save for the complexion and color of his hair, pure and clean, the presence incomprehensible to Angul as he shook with rage. He lashed out at the man with his hate, as if compelled to attack him, no reasoning, no motives, just pure hatred and contempt. Angul shot his powerful beams of lightning at him, the man easily repelling them with his own force abilities. Angul then called upon the force as he gathered energy for a powerful force storm which rippled and cracked all around the pair, no regard even for himself as Angul bellowed furiously.

Their battle waged on as neither one could best the other with their knowledge of the force, as well as many of their attacks seem to negate on impact for some unknown reason to Angul. Seeing the pointlessness of engaging him this way, Angul drew his lightsaber and took his wicked stance for combat. The man with his face, drew his own lightsaber which was hidden from Angul's eyes, it was then Angul barked at him viciously as he had an unusual hatred for Jedi. The Jedi then leap from high in the air landing a few meters directly in front of Angul, instinctively their sabers clashed as Angul defended against the blow. Angul's skill in lightsaber combat was quite formidable despite being trained to utilize the force more frequently than his swordsmanship. The Jedi was displaying unique fighting ability of his own as they matched one another blow for blow. Angul more shocked that his skills were so easily repelled, grew angrier with each assault, as the Jedi hardly seemed phased by his skill at all. In a flash of masterful saber techniques the Jedi disarmed Angul, decisively striking him across his abdomen. Angul groaned, the pain apparent in his voice, as he force pushed the Jedi several feet away while falling back clinging to his wound. He took a knee and watched as the Jedi regained his balance fairly quickly, he stood at the ready, watching Angul as he clutched his wound. Angul gritted his teeth beneath his helm as he was beginning to understand, he was about to die at the hands of this Jedi.

Enraged by this revelation Angul roared, like a unnatural beast or monstrosity ready to attack. He had never been completely outclassed before, for he excelled in every obstacle he had ever faced which granted him his superb power. He started to quiver as the area around them began to shake violently, it felt as if an earthquake of a high magnitude was taking place underneath them. Angul charged the Jedi, no lightsaber in hand, only the force as his weapon fueled by his anger,  fear, and disbelief that his time was soon at hand. The Jedi stood fast on guard and focused, ready for Angul's charge as he approached lightning following in his wake cracking the very earth beneath them. Angul wrapped electricity around the Jedi's lightsaber, disabling it and rendering it useless. He then paralyzed the Jedi with a violent stream of lightning that hindered his movement, making him an easy target for Angul's onslaught. As he began tormenting, this powerful adversary, he then realized he was far more engaged in his vision than he had ever been before. After realizing this fact, he found himself back atop of the monument where he had conquered the city in flames.

He stood facing outward, the horizon still ablaze with the inferno from the city below. He looked down at the crowd that once made their way hurriedly to his position only to see their corpses piled up. Angul pondered this unique series of events, he placed his hands out before him and the world slowly reverted, falling to pieces as he came back to his meditation chambers, his breathing heavy and winded. He clutches his abdomen to ensure his physical body had not been too severely damaged in his meditative state. After a brief examination, he rises to his feet with new insight on a very unique matter that stems to him personally. He stands in the middle of the room and begins pacing back and forth, contemplating what had transpired. If not for his unique ability to leave his body while sensing the future, and many other various activities, perhaps he would have never learned so much. As he went over the events, many revelations came to him, things that would shape his future in particular as the painful truth was made clear; his death was imminent.

One of Angul's servants came into the chamber alerted he had finished his meditation, he was an Evocii who had been warped by Angul's twisted experiments. He was one of the more fortunate servants to survive Angul's demented ways, he walked inside cautiously his fear completely obvious as Angul naturally sensed it. He never looked in his direction, he walked close enough to kneel presenting a data-pad to him, no attempts to make any eye contact. "F-for..y-you...Lord.." He whimpered in his presence. Angul turning at his servant took the data-pad, reading it while hovering over his still kneeling servant, relishing on his terror. "Hmph. Leave me servant." He said lowly to his servant. The servant quickly rose to his feet bowing as he hurried his pace leaving Angul to his business, not wanting to suffer his wrath. Angul threw the data-pad to the floor, heading right back into his pacing, clearly disturbed by what he had just experienced. After a few more moments he left the chamber and headed for his personal sanctuary.

Once inside, Angul locked himself in, warning all that he did not wish to be disturbed with any news lest they would feel his wrath like no other. He slowly walked around his enormous room, it was dark and ritualistic, no bed or any comforts to be seen, a desk with a log entry and a repeating holo-recording, on constant playback. He went to a shrine with a holocron of strange design, much similar to the markings in his ethereal vision during his meditation. He knelt before it removing his helm placing it to the side revealing his smooth dark brown hair. His eyes and skin were completely consumed by the corruption that comes with being too enthralled in the ways of the darkside. He began to seethe for a moment before the shrine, then rose and headed for his desk with the holo-recording. He sat there for a moment, then he typed in a few keys very quickly and a voice-recording system opened up. He took one final gaze before he began speaking into it.

   Holo-Journal 78-X12
"My current session has enabled strange and enigmatic forces to show themselves before me. It was enlightening to say the least, however it also foreshadowed an ill omen in regards to my well being. I have not been able to comprehend the uniqueness of the labyrinth I saw during my vision, only that it was a magnificent edifice.  I then found myself atop of a glorious monument of some powerful leader or Sith of his time, I had then come to realize I had razed a civilization to the ground, subduing my enemies and rallying its people to my will. The vision then took a drastic turn as I was drawn to a powerful apparition which seemed to attack my subconscious attempting to overwhelm me. The apparition was a human female, in her time at least, I am confident I have never seen her before and yet there was something eerily familiar about her. Her power was quite extraordinary yet my will was stronger so I subdued her as well. Still, an odd emotion crept in my heart as she was falling, I have never felt such an emotion before although it was quite faint. It matters not now, the true core of my concern was the hooded Jedi whom resembles me greatly in appearance and power if not more so. He was completely capable of all of my skills and tactics with the exception of him being a Jedi, he may as well have been my polar opposite. It is my understanding that he will be the one who strikes me down. The only real question that I must ask is when? I shall use all of my resources to track him down for I know he is out there...somewhere."- End Log

Angul sat back in his chair after filling up his log with this unique occurrence. He was angry and yet he knew it in his heart that it were true, that Jedi was out there somewhere at this very moment growing in power. He sighed for a moment, then clicked on a button, a servant answered nervously, yet Angul paid it no mind at the time. "Servant, call for Lord Mirivor immediately, he is to report directly to me." He ordered. The servant obeyed and went on to carry out his order, fear being his motivator. Angul sat sulking, obviously still concerned with his encounter while he meditated. He rose to his feet and went back to his shrine kneeling before it, he seethed once more to shake off the ill-effects of the meditation session, then placed his eerie helm back on. As he headed towards his sanctuary's exit, he pulled out a remote console of some kind and pressed a button. A noise came from the remote console, as Angul listened in for a moment as if waiting for a response. "Hear me slave, prepare for my arrival in seventy-two hours. It would appear there are potential traitors in my house, and they must be dealt with accordingly. If anyone approaches other than myself, kill them immediately." He said ending the call. He turned around glancing back at the holocron for a moment, as if the answers to his questions were laid out in front of him then proceeded to his conference room to await his summons.
